Después de una semana intensa con Mirko, donde hemos avanzado mucho con nuestro proyecto y una primera versión del guión ajustada a nuestro propósito, ya es hora de ir pensando en el rodaje, por eso, esta semana tenemos las primeras sesiones de Movie Magic, donde descubriremos los secretos de este programa y es un primer paso para la planificación de nuestro largometraje.

Hoy estamos muy contentos de mostraros el titulo y el teaser póster del que será el largometraje de este año, esperamos que os guste tanto como a nosotros!!

Seguimos con los Talleres de Primavera, esta semana os hablaremos del Taller de Cámara.

Taller de Cámara: Este curso de cuatro días para cineastas, ayudantes de cámara y otros profesionales que quieran profundizar en el trabajo del departamento de cámara. Se examinara la teoría y la practica del trabajo que desempeña el primer y segundo ayudante de cámara, familiarizándose con la tecnología de la cámara de cine y la digital y los procedimientos de trabajo en el plato. El curso incluye teoría, demostraciones y ejercicios prácticos utilizando equipos de 16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm y digital.

After an intense week with Mirko, where we have made considerable progress with our project, and having a version of the script which fits our purposes, it's time to start thinking about the shoot, for this reason, this week we'll have our first Movie Magic sessions, where we'll discover this program's secrets, as the first step to breaking down our feature film.

Today we're very happy to be able to share with you the title and a teaser poster of what will be this year's feature film, we hope you like it as much as we do!!

More on the Spring Workshops, this week we'll comment the Camera Workshop.

Camera Workshop: This four day workshop is designed for filmmakers, assistant camera people and other professionals who wish to further explore the Camera Department. The theory and practical aspects of the First and Second Camera Assistant will be examined, becoming familiar with the technology of both film and digital cameras, and on set procedures.  The course includes theory, demonstrations and practical exercises using 16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm and Digital cameras.

Mirko vuelve!!

Estamos muy contentos!! Esta semana nos visita de nuevo Mirko Von Berner, para nosotros es un placer tenerlo de vuelta. Nos ayudo mucho el curso pasado y este año, no ha dudado en volver. Por si alguien no lo conoce, decir que Mirko además de pintor, escultor, es Diseñador de Producción con más de 25 años de experiencia en la industria audiovisual y ha trabajado para directores como Julian Schnabel (Before night falls), James L. Brooks (Spanglish), Martin Campbell (The Mask of Zorro), entre otros muchos!!

Lo que más nos gusta de Mirko, es la capacidad de encontrar soluciones y como consigue generar interés por este departamento algo desconocido. Así que aprovecharemos para exprimirlo al máximo e intentar que deje huella, en todos los proyectos de nuestros alumnos.

Un grupo de fotografía de Sitges (Sitges International Photo Club) han seleccionado a dos de nuestras alumnos Minka y Merili para que hagan de modelos, un ejercicio estupendo para ver que se siente al otro lado de la cámara!! Quieres ver las fotos?? Os dejamos el enlace.

Taller fin de semana con Alexa: dos días intensos y diseñado para todos los estudiantes de audiovisual, ayudante de cámara, otros alumnos y profesionales interesados en conocer el departamento de cámara en general y la cámara digital de Arri “ALEXA” en particular. Donde se analizara en profundidad la teoría y practica de esta cámara.

We're very happy!!  This week, Mirko Von Berner  is coming for a visit, and for us it's a great pleasure to have him with us once again.  He proved terribly helpful last year in the feature film preparation, and this year, he has not hesitated to return.  In case someone does not know who he is, Mirko is, as well as a painter and sculptor, a Production Designer with more than 25 year experience in the audiovisual industry.  He's worked with directors including  Julian Schnabel (Before Night Falls (with Javier Bardem)), James L. Brooks (Spanglish (with Paz Vega)), Martin Campbell (The Mask of Zorro, (with Catherine Zeta Jones and Antonio Banderas)), amongst many more!!

What we like best about Mirko is his ability to find solutions and to create enthusiasm for this somewhat unknown department. So we'll squeeze as much as we can out of him, so he'll leave his mark on all of our students' projects.

A Photography Club in Sitges  (Sitges International Photo Club) has selected two of our students,  Minka and Merili, to participate as models in a photo shoot, an excellent exercise so these two filmmakers can feel what it's like to be on the other side of the camera.  Want to see the photos??  We'll leave you the link:

A Weekend with Alexa Workshop: two intense days, designed for all audiovisual students, camera assistants, other students and professionals interested in the Camera Department in general, and Arri's Digital ALEXA camera in particular. The theory and practical aspects of this camera will be examined at length.

Quien dijo cuesta de enero!!

Seguimos en la sala de montaje, el grupo de iniciación al proceso cinematográfico, ya empiezan a darle forma a los cortometrajes y estamos seguros que los trabajos sorprenderán a más de uno, no lo dudéis!!!

Y que gran trabajo están haciendo el curso de “Ven y rueda un largometraje”!, cada día que pasa mejoran el guión,  y cada nueva versión nos depara mas sorpresas, estamos muy contentos, tenemos un grupo muy acoplado y sobretodo muy trabajador.

Igual que los participantes del curso de Actor’s Studio, desde que hemos vuelto, están mas activos que nunca, da la sensación que hemos subido un nivel y nos alegra, pero seguiremos apretando para que sigan trabajando duro!!

Desde esta semana, esta abierto el plazo de inscripción para los cursos anuales de afilm, “Iniciación al Proceso Cinematográfico”, “Ven y rueda un Largometraje” y “Actor´s Studio” así que ya sabes, si te gusta el cine y quieres formar parte de el, te estamos esperando!!

Pero no olvidaros de los talleres que hemos preparado para esta primavera, hoy comentaremos uno de ellos:

“Todo lo que no aprendiste en la escuela de cine pero necesitas saber para el departamento de cámara”: Este taller de dos fines de semana cubre como solucionar problemas de cámara y electrónica básica.

We're still in the cutting room, the Introduction to Filmmaking group has completed the first cut of their short films, and are working on their fine cuts, before proceeding to build their soundtracks- we're certain their work will surprise us, no doubt!!

And the Digital Feature Film group is hard at work polishing their screenplay with each passing day, each new version brings new surprises, we're very happy, we've got a coordinated and very hard working group.

The same can be said about the afilm Actor's Studio group, since we have returned from the holidays, they're more active than ever, we get the impression they're progressing well and we're pleased, but we'll keep pushing them to work hard!

From this week, we're officially accepting applications to our year-long 2012 - 2013 courses, "Introduction to Filmmaking" program, "Digital Feature Film" program and  “Actor´s Studio”, so now you know, if you love filmmaking and want to join this industry, we're here for you!!

But don't forget about the workshops we've prepared for this spring, today we'll mention one of them:

"Everything You Didn't Learn in Film School But Need to Know for the Camera Department": This two weekend workshop covers how to solve camera and basic electronic  problems in the Camera/ Lighting Department.

Más cursos, talleres.... estamos de vuelta!!

Estamos de vuelta, con mas fuerza y animo!! Estos días nos han servido para preparar nuevos proyectos, cursos y talleres. El ritmo en afilm es frenético, los alumnos del curso de iniciación al proceso cinematográfico, ya están en nuestra sala de montaje, las próximas semanas tienen mucho trabajo, pasaran por todo el proceso de montaje, editar, color, sonido, etc.. Abajo os dejo unos frames de los cortometrajes.

Los chicos del curso “Ven y Rueda un Largometraje”, han tenido una semana intensa trabajando el guión, siempre asesorados por el profesor de guión Joan Álvarez, un experto en estos temas.

Antes de comentaros los talleres nuevos que estamos preparando, os recordamos que ya estamos en los últimos días de inscripción para el Taller de Cinematografía, tres meses intensos de curso, incluido un mes en el rodaje de un largometraje.

Y ahora los talleres nuevos, trabajas o estudias para ser director de fotografía? cámara o gaffer? o simplemente tienes interés en este departamento. Pues tienes una oportunidad única para mejorar o introducirte en este mundo.

We're back, full of strength and enthusiasm!!  These past days have allowed us to prep new projects, courses and workshops.  The rhythm at afilm is frenetic, students of the Introduction to Filmmaking program are already in the editing room, they've got a lot of work to do in the next few weeks, they'll go through the entire postproduction process, editing, color correction, sound, etc.  Below, a few frames from these upcoming short films.

Students from the "Digital Feature Film" program have had an intense week of script revision work, supervised as always by screenwriting Instructor Joan Alvarez, an expert in this subject.

Before commenting the new workshops we are preparing, just a reminder that these are the final days for signing up for the Cinematography Workshop, an intense three month course, including a month long feature film shoot.

Rodaje, visitas y FELICES FIESTAS!!!

Tenemos cerca las vacaciones, pero en afilm no paramos!! Esta semana hemos hecho una visita al CaixaForum, donde pudimos ver una exposición muy interesante,  y “atención” esta relacionado con el largometraje de este año (por ahora, no daremos más pistas), y mas tarde estuvimos en la “Mediateca”, un sitio increíble que nos trataron fenomenal y un lugar maravilloso para investigar/ estudiar todo lo relacionado con la fotografía, arte, etc.. donde acabamos en la sala de proyección disfrutando de unos videos. Desde ahora, los estudiantes de afilm tendrán acceso a su increíble biblioteca audiovisual, como parte de la experiencia afilm.

En el Curso Actor’s Studio con Amy Blaise, han realizado interpretación de monólogos como ejercicio de fin de trimestre, todo esta grabado, como material para sus showreel.

Y en “Iniciación al proceso cinematográfico”, hemos rodado con Bikash Rai y su cortometraje “A Smile”, una comedia divertida y sobretodo muy rápida… una pareja, un ladrón y una carrera, como acabara? Tendréis que verlo!!

The holidays are close, but at afilm, we don't stop!!  This week we've gone on a field trip to CaixaForum, where we had the opportunity to see a very interesting exhibition, which is, "pay close attention", closely related to the subject of this year's feature film (no more clues for now!). We then visited the Mediateca, an incredible place to study and investigate everythig related to photography and cinema, where we were treated very kindly, and enjoyed a private screening.  From now on, afilm students will have access to this incredible audiovisual library as part of their afilm experience.

In the Actor's Studio, with Amy Blaise, students have interpreted their end of the trimester monologues, shot professionally so each may include the scene in their final showreel.  

In the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program, we shot Bikash Rai's short 16mm film, "A Smile", a fun comedy...  a couple, a thief, a chase, how will it end?  You'll have to watch it!!

En afilm no hay festivos, seguimos rodando!!

No nos para nada, ni las fiestas, seguimos rodando!! Esta semana ha sido el turno de Grabiela Sprunt, que ha realizado un cortometraje sobre los diferentes estados/niveles sobre el proceso de despertarse, realmente un proyecto muy interesante!! No dudamos que “Crashing Night” os gustara y mucho!!

El grupo de “Realización de un largometraje” esta haciendo un trabajo asombroso, cada día tienen más elaborado el guión y nos encanta como lo están desarrollando y el gran esfuerzo que están  realizando, que no dudamos que se vera reflejado en la película.

Os recordamos que cada vez quedan menos plazas libres, para realizar los talleres intensivos de Producción y Dirección Cinematográfica, tres meses intensos y como resultado final, tener la experiencia de haber trabajado en un largometraje, lo dicho, una oportunidad única, que no puedes dejar escapar!!

Nothing slows us down, not even the holidays, we just keep on shooting!  This week it's been Gabriela Sprunt's turn, she's directed  a short film about the different states/ level of sleep/ dream, about the process of awakening, truly a very interesting project!!  We have no doubt you'll enjoy Crashing Night", very much!!

The "Digital Feature Film" group is doing an amazing job, each day the screenplay progresses, we love what they're developing and the huge effort they're putting into it, we've no doubt it'll be reflected in the film.  

We remind you that there are still some spaces available in the Cinematography and Producing Workshops- 3 intensive months, whose final result will be to have experienced working on a feature film- it's a unique opportunity, don't let it slip away!!

Actor's Studio with Amy

Seguimos rodando, esta semana es el turno de Merili, que ha realizado el cortometraje “Miss Connection”, una historia que trata sobre como la tecnología nos absorbe y nos aísla de las personas, y las sensaciones que provoca ir a contracorriente.

Esta semana comentaremos un curso que esta funcionando muy bien y que estamos muy contentos con el grupo que se ha formado. Se trata del curso de interpretación dirigido por Amy Blaise, excelente actriz con una trayectoria educativa y profesional impresionante, que permite a los alumnos aprovechar sus conocimientos y ponerlos en practica.

Este curso además da la posibilidad a los actores, de estar trabajando permanentemente, ya que otros cursos o estudiantes que han pasado por afilm, cuando necesitan actores para algún proyecto, son los primeros en pasar el casting.

Pronto los veréis en algunos de nuestros trabajos y no dudamos que os gustaran!!

We’re still shooting, this week it’s Merili’s turn, she has just shot her short film “Miss Connection”, a story about how tecnology can absorb, isolating us from others, and the sensations created by going against the norm.

This week we’ll tell you about a course which is going very well, we’re very happy with this year’s group. It’s the afilm Actor’s Studio, led by Amy Blaise, an excellent actress with an impressive educational and professional track record. During the course, she allows students to get the most out of their knowledge, and put it into practice.

This course also gives actors the opportunity to perform constantly, as when other courses and students who have passed through afilm require a trained actor for a project, the afilm actors are the first to get called for castings.

Soon you will see them in our upcoming projects, and we’ve no doubt you’ll be impressed!!
