Actor's Studio with Amy

Seguimos rodando, esta semana es el turno de Merili, que ha realizado el cortometraje “Miss Connection”, una historia que trata sobre como la tecnología nos absorbe y nos aísla de las personas, y las sensaciones que provoca ir a contracorriente.

Esta semana comentaremos un curso que esta funcionando muy bien y que estamos muy contentos con el grupo que se ha formado. Se trata del curso de interpretación dirigido por Amy Blaise, excelente actriz con una trayectoria educativa y profesional impresionante, que permite a los alumnos aprovechar sus conocimientos y ponerlos en practica.

Este curso además da la posibilidad a los actores, de estar trabajando permanentemente, ya que otros cursos o estudiantes que han pasado por afilm, cuando necesitan actores para algún proyecto, son los primeros en pasar el casting.

We’re still shooting, this week it’s Merili’s turn, she has just shot her short film “Miss Connection”, a story about how tecnology can absorb, isolating us from others, and the sensations created by going against the norm.

This week we’ll tell you about a course which is going very well, we’re very happy with this year’s group. It’s the afilm Actor’s Studio, led by Amy Blaise, an excellent actress with an impressive educational and professional track record. During the course, she allows students to get the most out of their knowledge, and put it into practice.

This course also gives actors the opportunity to perform constantly, as when other courses and students who have passed through afilm require a trained actor for a project, the afilm actors are the first to get called for castings.

Soon you will see them in our upcoming projects, and we’ve no doubt you’ll be impressed!! 

Empieza los rodajes!!

Por fin!! Ya hemos rodado el primer cortometraje en 16mm, la primera en ponerse manos a la obra ha sido Minka Sundell, con su corto “I’m not there yet”, una historia inquietante, que estamos seguros que no dejara a nadie indiferente. Abajo, os dejamos unas fotos.

Y hoy os comentaremos el taller de Producción, que ya tenemos preparado, son tres meses de curso intensivo y una oportunidad para poner en practica en el rodaje de un largometraje, los conocimientos adquiridos.

Durante los dos primeros meses, se realizaran clases de Teoría de Desarrollo y Producción Creativa, con sus correspondientes practicas. El siguiente mes será el rodaje del largometraje, un mes muy intenso!! Y la ultima semana Postproducción y distribución, de esta manera habremos pasado por todas las fases del proceso, incluido el rodaje.

At last!! We've shot the first short 16mm film, the first to get her chance to direct is Minka Sundell, with her short film, "I'm not there yet", an unsettling story, which we are sure will leave no one indifferent.  Below, we'll leave you some photos.

And today we'll tell you about the Producing Workshop, which we've prepared, it's a three month intensive course, and the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge acquired, by shooting a feature film.  

During the first two months, students study Development Theory and Creative Producing, with practical exercises.  Next, students shoot a feature film, forming part of the producing department, a very intense month!!  Finally, during the final week, students examine postproduction and distribution, and in this way experience all phases of the cinematic process.

Preparando los Talleres (Hoy, Cinematografia)

Seguimos trabajando en afilm, la semana que viene rodamos el primer cortometraje en 16mm con el grupo “Iniciación al proceso Cinematográfico”, una oportunidad fantástica que tu primer trabajo sea en cine!!

El curso “Realización de un largometraje”, van a un ritmo espectacular, tanto es así que ya se esta adelantando cosas de producción, estos chicos son unos trabajadores incansables y estamos seguros que harán un trabajo increíble.

Y como comentamos la semana pasada, hoy os daremos mas detalle del taller de Cinematografía. Son tres meses intensivos diseñados para alumnos con experiencia previa (teórica o practica)  que desean completar su formación, con la experiencia de trabajar en un rodaje de un largometraje.

Durante los primeros dos meses se realizaran Teoría cinematográfica, ejercicios prácticos y la preproducción del largometraje, el siguiente mes se hará la producción (Rodar), y la ultima semana seria postproducción y corrección de color.

Creemos que es una oportunidad única de estudiar y poner en practica los conocimientos y acabar con la experiencia de un largometraje.

At afilm, we're busy as always, this week students of the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program are going to shoot their first 16mm short film, it's a terrific opportunity to shoot your first film on film!

In the Digital Feature Film program, they're working at a spectacular pace, so much so, that they're already dealing with production considerations, these guys are very hard workers, and we're certain they'll do an incredible job.

And as we promised last week, today we'll give you more details about the Cinematography Master Workshop.  It features three intense months designed for students with previous experience (theoretical or practical), who wish to compliment their education with the experience gathered from working on a feature film.  

During the first two  months, they'll go into Cinematography Theory, practical exercises and feature film preproduction, the next month they'll go into production (shooting) and the final week will be dedicated to postproduction and color correction.  

We believe it's an incredible opportunity to study, put into practice the knowledge acquired, and finish with a feature film experience.

Nuevos Talleres!!

Menuda semana!! Visita de Koldo Anasagasti, donde nos dio una clase magistral de Producción, el viernes realizamos una visita al Museu de cine en Girona, que como siempre nos acogieron estupendamente y más clases, con muchos avances, donde ya se va viendo la dirección que esta tomando los proyectos y ya sabemos que esta mal decirlo, pero pintan muy bien!!

Ya tenemos casi todo preparado para los primeros rodajes del curso, empezamos con los cortometrajes en 16mm, como nos gusta rodar en formato cinematográfico!! Y más cuando tenemos propuestas tan variadas, pronto os explicaremos más y mostraremos algunas imágenes.

Recordaros que ya esta abierto el plazo de matriculación para los talleres de Dirección de Fotografía, Producción, Diseño de Producción (dirección de Arte) y Sonido, estos talleres son tres meses de curso, donde se incluye un mes en el rodaje de un largometraje del curso “Realización de un Largometraje”. A partir de la semana que viene, explicaremos con mas detalle cada uno de estos cursos.

En el anterior post, os comentábamos que estábamos preparando algo para ver la evolución de nuestros exalumnos, pues ya lo tenemos, esta semana empezamos con Ivan Castiñeiras, exalumno que realizo el curso de Steadicam, y acaba de rodar un largometraje documental como director de fotografía. Semana a semana, iremos añadiendo los trabajos de nuestros exalumnos. Tenéis que verlo!!

What a week!!  A visit from Koldo Anasagasti, and his Production Master Class, Friday's field trip to the Cinema Museum in Girona, where we are always so very welcome, and more classes, lots of work progressing, where we can see projects starting to come to life, and we know it's not good to boast, but it is looking very good!!

We've almost got everything prepared for the first shoots of the academic year, we'll begin with the 16mm and Super 16mm short films, do we ever enjoy shooting film!  Especially when we have such varied proposals, soon we'll share more with you, and we'll show you some images.

Just a reminder that we are already accepting applications to the Cinematography, Producing, Production Design and Sound Master Workshops, these are 3 month long workshops, which include a month long feature film shoot, joining the students of the "Digital Feature Film" program.  As of next week, we'll tell you more about these workshops.

In our previous post, we mentioned we were preparing something so we could all share in the evolution of our alumni, well it's now ready, this week we begin with Ivan Castiñeiras, alumni of our Steadicam Workshops, who has just completed shooting a feature documentary, as the Director of Photography.  Week by week, we'll add clips and information about our alumni.  Keep an eye on this!

Nos visita Koldo

Esta semana estamos especialmente contentos, recibimos la visita de Koldo Anasagasti (ex Director del Festival de San Sebastian y productor independiente con gran experiencia en televisión y con desarrollo de guiones), tuvimos la suerte de que el año anterior fuera el productor ejecutivo de nuestro largometraje “Checkout” y este año vuelve a repetir experiencia, algo que nos alegra enormemente!!

Aprovechando su visita, realizara un clase explicando todos los entresijos de la producción y empezaremos a trabajar en la nueva producción.

Este viernes haremos nuestra visita anual al Museu del Cinema, en Girona, una oportunidad para hacer un recorrido por la evolución del cine desde sus inicios y disfrutar de un espacio maravilloso.

Si hay algo que nos llega de orgullo y que nos alegra muchísimo, es ir viendo como nuestros alumnos y exalumnos, van avanzando en esta carrera de largo recorrido que es el mundo de cine. Y muy pronto, y semana a semana os iremos enseñando e iremos haciendo ese recorrido con vosotros!!

This week we're especially happy, as Koldo Anasagasti (ex Director of the San Sebastian International Film Festival and independent producer, with extensive television and screenplay development experience) is coming to visit afilm.  We were fortunate enough to have him as our Executive Producer on last year's feature film "Checkout" and this year, he's returning to face the challenge once again, for which we are grateful!

As part of his visit, he'll give a Master Class, explaining the complexities of Producing, and we'll start work on the new project.  

This Friday, we'll make our annual visit to the Cinema Museum in Girona, which offers us the opportunity to travel through the evolution of cinema, from it's beginning, and enjoy a fantastic space.

If there is something that fills us with pride, and brings us great joy, it's seeing how our students and alumni progress in this long distance race that is the audiovisual industry/ cinema world.  And very soon, week by week, we'll share the adventures and work of these artists with you!

Cursos en marcha

Un par de semanas en afilm dan para mucho, los estudiantes de “Iniciación al proceso Cinematográfico”, ya están empezando a desarrollar una idea para realizar su primer cortometraje en 16mm. Toda una experiencia que tu primer cortometraje se realice en cine!!

Mientras el curso “Realización de un largometraje” ya tienen la idea central de la que será su película y ya comenzaron a trabajar con el guión. Por ahora, lo único que podemos decir es que es muy inquietante.

También ha iniciado el curso el Estudio del actor con Amy Blaise, este curso nos ilusiona mucho y podemos decir con toda seguridad, que tenemos un grupo muy bueno y esperamos que nos den muchas alegrías.

Pronto os hablaremos de los talleres de Cinematografía y Producción de un largometraje, y este año además queremos incluir a estos talleres dos mas, el de arte y el de sonido, te apuntas?? Pronto os explicaremos muchas cosas más…

A lot can happen in a couple of weeks at afilm, students of the 'Introduction to Filmmaking" program have already began developing their ideas for their first 16mm short film.  It's quite an experience to shoot your first short film on film!!

Meanwhile, in the "Digital Feature Film" program, students already have the central idea for their feature film, and they've begun work on the script.  For now, all we can say is that it is very unsettling.

We've also kicked off the Actor's Studio with Amy Blaise, we're very excited about this program, as we're certain we have a very solid group of actors, and we hope they'll bring many surprises.

Soon we'll tell you all about the Cinematography and Producing Feature Film Workshops, as well as two new workshops we'd like to include, Production Design (Art Direction) and Sound, care to join us?!!  Soon we'll share many more things with you...
