Primera Semana de Rodaje!!

Por donde empezar, primera semana de rodaje y todo son cosas buenas!! Todos nuestros estudiantes, perdón, todo el equipo técnico esta haciendo un trabajo maravilloso, es increíble cuando juntas personas de distintas nacionalidades, diferentes inquietudes y se convierten en un equipo, para sacar adelante un único objetivo, hacer un largometraje.

Los actores nos están continuamente sorprendiendo con su trabajo, realmente es una gozada verles actuar!! Porque el casting y los ensayos están muy bien, pero cuando ruedan, es otro mundo y por supuesto son asombrosos.

El balance de la primera semana es muy bueno, ahora queremos mantener este nivel e intentaremos incluso mejorarlo, con estos chicos todo es posible!!

Where shall we begin, it's the first week of shooting and everything is going well!  All of our students, sorry, the entire crew is doing a fantastic job, it's incredible when you put people together from all over the world, with different perspectives, and they become a single team, to reach a single objective- to create a feature film.

The actors are continually surprising us with their work, it's truly a pleasure to watch them perform!  Because casting sessions and rehearsals are all very well, but when shooting, it's another world, and of course they are amazing.

This week's overall balance is very positive, now we want to maintain this level, and we'll even try to improve it, with these guys, anything is possible!

Lo prometido es deuda, subimos unas fotos del rodaje de "Checkout", este fin de semana primeras impresiones!!

As promised, some photos of filming "Checkout", this weekend we'll share our first impressions!!.

Comienza el Rodaje!!!

Por fin, llego el gran día!! Hoy empezamos el rodaje de “Checkout”, el segundo largometraje de afilm, donde todos nuestros alumnos participan en esta maravillosa experiencia. Como sabéis, es una oportunidad única realizar una película y ser participe en todos los procesos, desde la escritura, rodaje y postproducción.

Una vez terminado el casting, las localizaciones, los ensayos, hicimos una lectura de guión con todo el equipo técnico y artístico, y ahora es el momento de poner en practica todo lo aprendido durante el año. Desde aquí os iremos informando del día a día del rodaje, estar atentos al blog, porque intentaremos actualizarlo un par de veces por semana.

Y como las buenas noticias nunca vienen solas, estas muy contentos de comunicaros que del 17 al 21 de octubre, estamos preparando un Workshops con Larry Sugar, Productor Ejecutivo de Peter Greenaway, Francis Ford Coppola, etc…

Larry Sugar (Productor) Productor Ejecutivo de Peter Greenaway en “Nightwatching”, Productor de la serie de Ciencia Ficción “First Wave” de Francis Ford Coppola, tiene una exitosa carrera de mas de 40 años en la industria Cinematográfica, especializándose en guión, Marketing, producción de licencias, distribución de largometrajes y televisión, para gigantes mediáticos como Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, CBS, etc.. Hasta la fecha Larry ha sido responsable de mas de 150 largos y 500 horas de televisión.

At last, the long awaited for day is here!!  Today we begin shooting "Checkout", afilm's second feature film, where our students will participate in this marvelous experience.  As you know, to be able to create and participate in the writing, shooting and postproduction of a feature  is a unique opportunity.

Once the casting, location scouting, and reheasals are over, we had a full cast and crew read through, and now is the time to put into practice everything we've learnt throughout the year.  From here, we'll keep you up to date, day by day, so stay tuned to this blog, as we'll try to update you a few times a week.
 
And since good news never travels alone, we are very pleased to announce that, from October 17 - 21, we are preparing a Workshop with Larry Sugar,  Executive Producer to Peter Greenaway, Francis Ford Coppola, etc.
 
Larry Sugar (Producer), Executive Producer for Peter Greenaway's "Nightwatching", Producer of the sci-fi series "First Wave" with  Francis Ford Coppola, has enjoyed a successful 40 year career in the motion picture business, specializing in writing, producing, licensing, marketing and distribution of feature films and television for such media giants as Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Lorimar, CBS and Republic Pictures.  To date Larry has been directly responsible for over 150 feature films and over 500 hours of television.

Rodaje en 35mm

En diez días empieza el rodaje, ya esta casi todo preparado y que mejor manera de ir calentando motores, que rodar un spot con la Movicam Compact 35mm de 3 perforaciones.

Hemos juntado al Staff de la escuela, con los alumnos de los cursos, para que rueden, es una buena manera de unir y conocerse los grupos, y comenzar esa asociación que estamos seguros saldrá muy bien. En cuanto este el Spot montado, lo subiremos para que todo el mundo lo pueda ver.

Ha sido una semana muy movida, ya esta cerrado el casting, ya tenemos las localizaciones, hemos tenido clases de Sonido directo, hemos podido manejar, conocer y rodar con una cámara de 35mm y seguiremos proponiendo muchas mas cosas, eso es seguro!!

Desde aquí queremos agradecer a Liberty Hotel de Sitges, que será una de nuestras principales localizaciones y estamos encantados, ya que se corresponde con la idea que teníamos desde el principio. GRACIAS!!!

In 10 days, the shoot begins, almost everything is prepared, and what better way to warm up than to shoot an advert using the  Movicam Compact 35mm (3 perf).

Staff and students worked together, so each group gets to know the others better, and begin that association which we are sure will work out well.  As soon as the advert is ready, we'll upload it so everyone can enjoy it.

It's been a busy week, we've confirmed the casting, we've locked locations, we've had a Production Sound Seminar, we've had the opportunity to get familiar, learn to use and shoot with a 35mm camera, and we'll keep coming up with new challenges, that's for sure!

From here, we'd like to thank the  Liberty Hotel in Sitges, which will be one of our main locations, and we're very pleased, as it fits perfectly with the original idea reflected in the screenplay- THANKS!!

Red One Mysterium en afilm

A lo largo de esta semana, los alumnos del taller de cinematografía y de “realización del un largometraje”, han continuado con las reuniones para conseguir la imagen de la película. Este un reto bastante complicado, conseguir plasmar la idea que tiene el director en su cabeza, no es tarea fácil, pero ya están trabajando duro y seguro que nos sorprenden como hasta ahora.

Este jueves, tuvimos en afilm la cámara RED ONE MYSTERIUM, con la que todos nuestros cursos tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer y aprender con ella. Juan Fernández gran conocedor de estas cámaras, nos mostró su funcionamiento y como sacar el máximo rendimiento.

Y la semana que viene, vendrá a afilm, Javier Ortega, nuestro profesor de Sonido Directo y todo un placer para nosotros, que forme parte de nuestro equipo. Javier ha realizado la postproducción de sonido de varios largometrajes, compone, es músico, etc..

This week, students of the Cinematography Workshop and Directors from the Digital Feature Film Workshop have met to create the feature film image.  It's a fairly complex challenge, trying to bring a director's vision to life, it's no easy task, but they are hard at work, and no doubt they will surprise us, as usual.

This Thursday, at afilm,  students had the opportunity to get to know the RED ONE MYSTERIUM electronic cinematography camera, which all of the different Workshops had a chance to experiment with.  Juan Fernández, very knowledgeable about this camera, showed us the workings, and how to get the most out of it.

And this coming week,  Javier Ortega, our Production Sound Instructor will be at afilm, quite a pleasure for us, having him join our staff.  Javier is a feature film Sound Designer, Composer, Musician, etc..

Cerrando localizaciones, castings.....

Esta semana, hemos subido un video del ultimo curso de Steadicam que realizamos en afilm y aprovechamos, para enseñaros algunas fotos con la clase que se hizo, donde los alumnos de los cursos anuales y Taller de cinematografía, tuvieron la oportunidad de practicar con la steadicam.

Recordaros que aun quedan plazas para el próximo Workshops de Steadicam que se realizara el 11, 12 y 13 de Marzo en afilm. Será toda una experiencia!!.

Mientras, los alumnos de “Realiza un largometraje”, están cerrando las localizaciones (muy pronto mostraremos algunas fotos!!), también están finalizando con los castings (aun estas a tiempo, a que esperas!!) y en breve comenzaran los ensayos.

Por si fuera poco, esta semana comenzaran las reuniones con los alumnos del taller de cinematografía, donde presentaran su Package y referencias visuales, sobre el proyecto. De estas reuniones saldrá la imagen de la película, muy interesante juntar los dos grupos “Cinematografía y directores”, seguro que salen cosas muy buenas!!

This week, we've uploaded the latest afilm Steadicam Workshop video, and we'll take a moment to show you some shots of students of the year-long courses and Cinematography Workshop, getting a bit of practice in the art of Steadicam operating.

Remember there are still spaces available in the next afilm Steadicam Workshop, this 11, 12 and 13 of March. It'll be quite the experience!!

Meanwhile, students of the Digital Feature Film program are locking down locations (soon we'll have some location photos for you!!), they're also finalizing the casting process (there's still time, what are you waiting for?!!), and soon rehearsals will begin.

If that were not enough, this week students of the CInematography Workshop will be joining the Digital Feature Film students, who will be presenting their project Package as well as visual references for the film.  From these meetings, the film's image will develop, it's an interesting step, joining the two groups, Cinematographers and Directors, we're sure interesting things will come of it!!

Estamos de Casting

Que rápido se nos ha pasado estos 5 primeros meses de curso, solo queda un mes para iniciar el largometraje!!. Pero estamos tranquilos, seguimos trabajando en la preproducción, intentando cerrar localizaciones, recopilando atrezzo de nuestra gran lista y comenzando los castings, como ya comentamos la semana pasada, os dejamos el anuncio, animaros y venir!! Y sobretodo pásalo.

Mientras, nuestros alumnos de iniciación al proceso cinematográfico, ya están preparando el siguiente cortometraje, estos chicos no paran!!, aparte de este proyecto, también colaboraran en el largometraje!! Y seguiremos proponiéndoles mas cosas, que nadie lo dude.

También estamos preparando para las próximas semanas, las clases de sonido directo, una visita a un centro profesional de iluminación y mas cosas que iremos desvelando.  Esto es afilm, nunca paramos y siempre buscamos más trabajo.

How these past 5 months have flown by, we're now just one month away from shooting the feature film!  But we're calm, we're hard at work on preproduction, trying to lock locations, running through our lengthy prop list, and locking casting, as we commented last week- we'll leave you with the casting call, feel free to come and join us! And, pass the word along...

Meanwhile, our Introduction to Filmmaking  students, are hard at work, preparing their next short film, there is no stopping these guys! Aside from this project, they're also going to collaborate on the digital feature film!!  And we'll try to keep challenging them, make no mistake.

We're also preparing for the coming weeks, a Production Sound seminar, a visit to a professional lighting rental house, and more, that we'll let you in on.  This is afilm, we never stop, we're always looking for more challenges.
