Alan, Steadicam, Localizaciones....

Esta semana hemos recibido la visita de Alan Fritzinger, un alumno que tuvimos en nuestro primer año de “Iniciación al Proceso Cinematográfico” que posteriormente realizo el curso de Steadicam y después de estar viviendo en Australia, y en algunas ciudades de Usa, vuelve por unos días a Barcelona y aprovecha para pasarse por afilm y realizar la clase de Steadicam que teníamos con los alumnos de “Iniciación al Proceso Cinematográfico”. Para nosotros es un placer que nuestros antiguos alumnos, consideren afilm como una segunda casa.

El grupo “Ven y Rueda un largometraje” no para, después de la semana del pitch, están trabajando duro en la preproducción, casting, la planificación con el Movie Magic y las visitas a las localizaciones. Esta semana han visitado como posible localización, el “Hotel Romantic”, unos de nuestros colaboradores y que nos están ayudando mucho en este proceso, como siempre agradecer a todo el equipo del Hotel su apoyo!!

El grupo de Actor Studio de Amy Blaise, siguen trabajando y no paran!! La semana pasada tuvieron simulacro de casting para el largometraje y parece que esto les animado para seguir esforzándose más todavía.

Y nos queda por comentar otro taller de primavera que tenemos en afilm, con el auge que esta teniendo las cámaras HDSRL, creemos que era necesario incorporar un curso como este.

TALLER RODAR VIDEO CON CAMARA HDSRL: un taller intensivo de tres días, donde conocerán todo el potencial y todas las limitaciones de este tipo de cámara. Una oportunidad única para sacar el máximo partido a tu cámara HDSRL.

This week we've had a visit from Alan Fritzinger (afilm alumni), an student who was with us for the first year of the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program and an afilm certified Steadicam Operator, who has since lived and worked in Australia and throughout the US.  As he's back in Barcelona for a few days, he dropped by afilm and gave us a hand with the Steadicam training session with this year's Introduction to Filmmaking students.  For us it's a pleasure for afilm alumni to consider afilm their home away from home.

There is no stopping the "Digital Feature Film" group, after Pitch Week, they're hard at work on preproduction, casting, Movie Magic breakdowns/ scheduling and location scouting.  This week they've visited the location of one of our close collaborators - the "Hotel Romantic" in Sitges, they're really helping us out with this process.  As always, we'd like to thank them for all their support!

The afilm Actor's Studio with Amy Blaise is also hard at work, there's also no stopping them!  Last week they participated in a casting simulation for the feature film, and it seems this has encouraged them to try even harder.

We've got one more Spring workshop at afilm, with the HDSLR boom, we believe it's important to include a workshop such as this.

SHOOTING VIDEO WITH HDSLRs WORKSHOP: an intense, three day workshop, where students will get to experience first hand the potential and limitations of these cameras.  A unique opportunity to get the most out of your HDSLR camera.

Semana de Pitch

Increíble semana en afilm, también podíamos llamarla, la semana del pitch!! Para quien no se sepa el significado, realizar un pitch es exponer tu proyecto, en busca de colaboraciones, conseguir una subvención o intentar venderlo.

Esta semana los chicos de “Ven y realiza un largometraje”, han tenido mucho trabajo, han practicado el pitch de su proyecto con los compañeros de otros cursos y han tenido la prueba de fuego con Mike Hostench el Deputy Director del Festival de cine Sitges, que después de que realizaran el pitch, les asesoro y estuvieron hablando sobre el proyecto, una fantástica Masterclass!!

El Hotel Romantic, junto todo su personal, nos vuelve a brindar su colaboración en este largometraje, algo que nos encanta, ya que son una gente maravillosa. Por eso, también realizamos el pitch ante uno de sus responsables, Jose Vendrell.

It's been an incredible week at afilm, we could call this Pitch Week!!  For those of you who do not know what this is, to pitch is to present your project, in search of collaboration, funding or even to sell your project.

This week the "Digital Feature Film" program students have had lots of work, they have pitched their project to students from other courses who will be collaborating, and the true test of fire, they've pitched to Mike Hostench, the Deputy Director of  the Sitges International Film Festival.  After listening to their pitch, Mike gave them advice and discussed the project, a fantastic Masterclass!!

The  Hotel Romantic,  with all of it's personnel, is going to once again collaborate with the feature film production, which is a real treat, as they are truly wonderful people.  That's why we also pitched the project to one of the main people responsible, Jose Vendrell.

Montaje, Preproducción, Steadicam...

Estamos en la sala de montaje y los ordenadores están sacando humo, el grupo de “Iniciación al proceso Cinematográfico”, han terminado de editar sus cortometrajes, y ahora realizan el trailer, un ejercicio muy interesante para mostrar todas las virtudes del proyecto y dejar la sensación de querer ver más!! Muy pronto os mostraremos esos trailers!

Los chicos de “Realiza un Largometraje”, ahora que tienen una primera versión del guión muy próxima a lo que esperábamos, se están centrando es otras áreas de la preproducción, planificación, localizaciones, etc.. nos queda mucho trabajo y el rodaje se va acercando. Pero no dudéis que llegaremos, estos chicos son una caja de sorpresas!

Y seguimos analizando los talleres de Primavera, esta semana nuestro curso estrella, Curso de Steadicam.

Curso de Steadicam: Un taller intensivo y practico de tres días, que presenta el arte y las técnicas para operar una steadicam. Este curso es ideal para ayudantes de  cámara o ayudantes de steadicam que buscan dar el salto a operar, y para operadores que desean mejorar su técnica.

We're in the editing room, and the edit stations are smoking, the "Introduction to Filmmaking" group is finishing up editing their short films, and are now working on their trailers, a very interesting exercise to show off all of the virtues of a project, and leave the audience with the desire to see more!  Soon we'll show you these trailers!

The "Digital Feature Film" group, with a very solid version of the screenplay in hand, is beginning to concentrate on other areas of preproduction, including breakdowns using Movie Magic, location scouting, etc,.. We've still got a lot to prepare and the shoot dates are drawing near.  But rest assured we'll be ready, these students are a box full of surprises!

And we'll continue looking at the Spring Workshops, this week our star workshop, the Steadicam Workshop.

Steadicam Workshop:  a practical, intense 3 day workshop on the art and technique of operating a Steadicam.  This course is ideal for camera assistants or Steadicam assistants who would like to step up to operating, as well as for operators seeking to improve their skills.

Después de una semana intensa con Mirko, donde hemos avanzado mucho con nuestro proyecto y una primera versión del guión ajustada a nuestro propósito, ya es hora de ir pensando en el rodaje, por eso, esta semana tenemos las primeras sesiones de Movie Magic, donde descubriremos los secretos de este programa y es un primer paso para la planificación de nuestro largometraje.

Hoy estamos muy contentos de mostraros el titulo y el teaser póster del que será el largometraje de este año, esperamos que os guste tanto como a nosotros!!

Seguimos con los Talleres de Primavera, esta semana os hablaremos del Taller de Cámara.

Taller de Cámara: Este curso de cuatro días para cineastas, ayudantes de cámara y otros profesionales que quieran profundizar en el trabajo del departamento de cámara. Se examinara la teoría y la practica del trabajo que desempeña el primer y segundo ayudante de cámara, familiarizándose con la tecnología de la cámara de cine y la digital y los procedimientos de trabajo en el plato. El curso incluye teoría, demostraciones y ejercicios prácticos utilizando equipos de 16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm y digital.

After an intense week with Mirko, where we have made considerable progress with our project, and having a version of the script which fits our purposes, it's time to start thinking about the shoot, for this reason, this week we'll have our first Movie Magic sessions, where we'll discover this program's secrets, as the first step to breaking down our feature film.

Today we're very happy to be able to share with you the title and a teaser poster of what will be this year's feature film, we hope you like it as much as we do!!

More on the Spring Workshops, this week we'll comment the Camera Workshop.

Camera Workshop: This four day workshop is designed for filmmakers, assistant camera people and other professionals who wish to further explore the Camera Department. The theory and practical aspects of the First and Second Camera Assistant will be examined, becoming familiar with the technology of both film and digital cameras, and on set procedures.  The course includes theory, demonstrations and practical exercises using 16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm and Digital cameras.
