Seguimos rodando sin parar!!!

No paramos en afilm, seguimos rodando cortometrajes en 16mm, seguimos trabajando en nuestro guión de largometraje, seguimos con muchos proyectos y queremos seguir así, porque nos encanta acabar el año trabajando y empezar el siguiente con más trabajo, con mas Workshops, algunos Talleres nuevos, rodajes y más cosas que iremos desvelando poco a poco!!!

Estas semanas han rodado dos alumnos de “Introducción al proceso cinematográfico” su cortometraje en 16mm, Désirée con “Chances”, nos lleva a un sorprendente viaje visual, que estamos desando que este editado para disfrutarlo. Y Theo con “Under the Apron”, hace una adaptación muy libre de un cuento popular, pero con un giro muy inesperado.

Here at afilm, there is no stopping, we continue to shoot 16mm short films, we continue to develop our feature film screenplay, we're pushing ahead with may projects, and we hope to continue like this, because we'd love to finish out the year working, and start the new year with even more work, more workshops, more shoots, and more things we will reveal little by little!

These past couple of weeks, two students from the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program have been shooting their  16mm projects,  Désirée with “Chances”, who takes us on a surprising visual journey- you'll have to wait till it's edited to enjoy it!  and Theo with “Under the Apron”, which takes on an adaptation of "Little Red Riding Hood", with an unexpected twist. 

Seguimos rodando!!!

Seguimos con los cortometrajes en 16mm de los alumnos “Introducción al proceso cinematográfico”, esta semana es el turno de Giovanni, que cuenta la historia sobre la aceptación y lucha contra uno mismo y los estamentos que le rodea. Un cortometraje realmente muy visual y conceptual.

Y recordaros, que ya queda muy poco para realizar el “Taller Master de Cinematografía” y el “Taller Master de Producción” son tres meses de curso intensivo, donde tendremos clases de teoría, ejercicios prácticos, análisis, preproducción de un largometraje, rodaje de un mes y una ultima semana de postproducción.

Al final del taller, el alumno habrá adquirido conocimientos prácticos y profesionales acerca de la realización de largometrajes, así como experiencia en rodaje, un plan de desarrollo de carrera y una bobina show reel con muestras del trabajo.

Aun estas a tiempo de vivir esta maravillosa experiencia!!!

We continue shooting the 16mm  "Introduction to filmmaking" student films, this week it's Giovanni's turn, who tells a tale of acceptance, man's inner struggle against himself and the establishment.  It's a truly visual, conceptual short film.

And lets remember that both the 3 month Cinematography and Producing Master Workshops are near at hand, these intensive courses will feature theory, practical exercises, analysis, feature film preproduction, a month long feature film shoot and a final week of postproduction.

At the end of the workshops, the students will have acquired practical and professional knowledge regarding the creation of digital feature films, as well as on-set experience, a career plan and a show reel of their work. 
There is still time left for you to live this marvelous experience!

Primer Cortometraje del Curso

El viernes 19 de Noviembre se realizo el primer cortometraje en 16mm de los alumnos de “Introducción al proceso cinematográfico”, este cortometraje realizado por el alumno Rabih, cuenta una historia futurista y realidades alternativas. Estamos deseando verlo montado, porque va a ser algo muy atrevido y diferente.

También seguimos con la presentación de los profesores, hoy es el turno de Yolanda Torres, ¿que podemos decir de ella?, es la jefa de estudios de “afilm”, lleva mas de 15 años en la docencia, además dirige, produce y edita películas. Una persona que respira y desprende cine.

Yolanda Torres (Productor, Director), licenciada en cine en UCLA (Universidad de California, Los Angeles) con Posgraduados en Dirección por AFI (American Film Institute) y en Producción por EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, MEDIA), lleva mas de 15 años como profesora de cine y trabaja extensamente como especialista en desarrollo cinematográfico. Ha dirigido y/o producido varios largos y documentales, incluyendo Nocturnia, Ledankari y Arkadia.

On Friday, November 19, students of the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program shot their first 16mm short film. Shot by Rabih, this short tells a futuristic tale set in alternate realities.  We can't wait to see how it cuts together, as it will no doubt be a daring, different film project.

We will also continue presenting our professors, today it is Yolanda Torres' turn.  What can we say about her?  She is the Head of Studies, having taught for over 15 years, though she also directs, produces and edits films.  She's the sort of person who lives and breaths film!

Yolanda Torres (Producer, Director), with a B.A. in Film from UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), and postgraduates in Directing from AFI (American Film Institute) and Producing from EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, MEDIA), has taught cinema for over 15 years, and works extensively in feature film development.  She has directed and/or produced several features and documentaries, including Nocturnia, Lendakari (realizador)  and Arkadia.

En el camino

Llevamos prácticamente un mes de curso y empezamos con los rodajes, los alumnos de “Introducción al proceso Cinematográfico” esta ultimando los preparativos y planificación, para el primer rodaje. A lo largo de este mes y el siguiente, todos ellos realizarán un cortometraje en 16mm, toda una experiencia que tu primer trabajo sea en cine!!

Mientras, los alumnos del Master “Realización de un largometraje” siguen trabajando duro en el guion (que por cierto, están haciendo un trabajo excelente y sobretodo original, estamos seguros que impactará, pero eso ya lo contaremos más adelante).

Aprovechamos para recordaros, que todavía quedan plazas para realizar el “Taller Master de Cinematografía” y el “Taller Master de Producción” son tres meses de curso y sobretodo te permite vivir la experiencia de un largometraje. Simplemente es algo que no te puedes perder!!!

Classes started less than a month ago, and we are about ready to begin shooting- students of the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program are finishing the preproduction of their first shoot.  Throughout this month and the next, each student will shoot a short 16mm film, it's quite an experience to shoot your first project on film!

Meanwhile, students of the "Digital Feature Film" program are hard at work on their screenplay (and, by the way, they are doing an excellent job, preparing an especially original story which we are certain will create a stir, but more on that later).

We want to take this opportunity to also remind you there are still spaces available for both the "Feature Film Cinematography Workshop" and the  "Feature Film Producing Workshop". Each is 3 months long, and they both allow you to experience shooting a feature film.  They are not to be missed!!!

Koldo Anasagasti nos visita

Esta semana estamos muy contentos, de tener entre nosotros a nuestro Productor Ejecutivo, Koldo Anasagasti, es una oportunidad y una gran suerte para nuestros alumnos y escuela, tener una persona con tanta experiencia y conocimiento en todos los campos del mundo audiovisual.

Koldo analizara y estudiara con nosotros los proyectos, para ver su viabilidad y nos ayudara en el crecimiento de nuestra película.

Koldo Anasagasti (Productor), ex Director del Festival Internacional de cine de San Sebastian, Director del EITB (Televisión Vasca) y como productor independiente, ha adquirido una gran experiencia en televisión,  incluyendo tv-movies y desarrollo de largometrajes.

This week we are very happy to have our Executive Producer, Koldo Anasagasti, come visit us.  It's a terrific opportunity and we consider ourselves, our students and our training center very fortunate to have access to someone with this much knowledge and experience in the audiovisual world.
Koldo will study and analyze our projects, to make sure they are  viable and will aid us in the development of our new feature film.

Koldo Anasagasti (Producer), as former Director of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Director of Eitb (Basque Television), and independent producer, he has acquired extensive expert experience in television, including tv movies and feature film development.

Quieres hacer un largometraje???

Si no puedes dedicar un año a nuestro curso regular “Realiza un Largometraje”, te damos la oportunidad de participar en un Taller Master, donde de febrero a abril, podrás realizar un curso intensivo de Cinematografía o Producción.

Durante estos meses elaboraremos clases de teoría, ejercicios prácticos, análisis, preproducción del largometraje, rodaje de un mes y una ultima semana de Postproducción.

Al final del taller, el alumno habrá adquirido conocimientos prácticos y profesionales acerca de la realización de largometrajes, así como experiencia en rodaje, un plan de desarrollo de carrera y una bobina show reel con muestras del trabajo.

Siguiendo con la presentación de profesores, esta semana aprovechando que nuestros alumnos de “Introducción al proceso Cinematográfico” y “realiza un largometraje” van hacer un intensivo de guión, os presentamos a nuestro profesor de guión Joan Álvarez.

Joan Álvarez (Guionista) ha escrito, entre otros trabajos, la adaptación de la novela “El libro de las aguas”, de Alejandro López de Andrada (llevada recientemente a la pantalla por Antonio Gimenez-Rico) y el guión “Pulsión”, basado en un argumento original de Luis Alcoriza (guionista de algunos títulos de Luis Buñuel).

If you can't spend all year in our "DIGITAL FEATURE FILM" program, you can still join us in a Master Workshop, where from February to April, you can participate in a 3 month Cinematography or Producing Workshop.

During these months, we will have theoretical classes, practical exercises, analysis and preproduction, shoot a digital feature film for a month and a postproduction week.  At the end of the workshop, students will have acquired practical and professional feature film knowledge, as well as on set experience, a career plan and a showreel with samples of their work.

Continuing with our presentation of our professors, as this week our "Introduction to fFilmmaking" and "Digital Feature Film" students will be submerged in a week-long screenwriting seminar, we would like to introduce you to our screenwriting instructor, Joan Álvarez.

Joan Álvarez (screenwriter) has written, amongst other works, the adaptation of the Alejando López Andrada’s novel, El libro de las Aguas,  (shot for the screen by Antonio Giménez-Rico) and the screenplay Pulsión, based on an original story by Luís Alcoriza (screenwriter for some of Luis Buñuel’s films). 

Semana 1, Pitching, Guiones, etc..

Una vez acabada con la resaca de películas en el Festival de Sitges, nos metemos de lleno en los cursos anuales de afilm. Donde iremos contando los proyectos que van saliendo, los guiones escogidos y el desarrollo de los rodajes.

En el curso “Realiza un largometraje”, esta semana los alumnos realizaran un pitching, para saber cual será el guión seleccionado, que trabajaran durante todo el curso, hasta que en el mes de junio, una vez pasado por todos los procesos de Preproducción, Producción y Postproducción tengan su primer largometraje!!

También seguimos haciendo un repaso por los profesores de afilm, donde hoy os presentamos a Juan Antonio Fernández. Estamos realmente muy contentos de tener un profesional de su experiencia y su trayectoria, entre nosotros, un autentico lujo.

Juan Antonio Fernández (Director de Fotografía, Estereografía, Productor), ha trabajado en Los Angeles y en España, durante mas de 20 años, incluyendo varios años en Panavision Hollywood. Diseñador de equipo de cine especializado, se especializa en cinematografía de alta velocidad, submarina, vfx y estereoscopia, además de llevar mas de 15 años como profesor de cine (UCLA Extension, Universidad Pompeu Fabra, ESCAC). Ha rodado el primer video musical en 3D estereoscópico en España, además del primer cortometraje 3D estereo, y la primera retransmisión en 3D estereo en directo de una Opera.

Having finished enjoying the films at the Sitges International Film Festival, we're diving into the year-long courses at afilm.  We'll keep you up to date on upcoming projects, the screenplays selected and the projects developed.
This week, in the "DIGITAL FEATURE FILM" program, students will be pitching their project proposals, so as to select a screenplay to be developed during the duration of the course. Upon completing the Preproduction, Production and Postproduction processes, they will have their first feature film!

We are also going to continue with our introduction to the professors at afilm- Today we are going to present  Juan Antonio Fernández. We are very pleased to have a professional of his experience with us, it is a true luxury.   

Juan Antonio Fernández (Director of Photography, Stereographer, Producer), has worked in Los Angeles and in Spain for over 20 years, including several years at Panavision Hollywood. Designer of specialized film equipment, he specializes in high speed, underwater, VFX and stereo cinematography. He has been teaching for over 15 years (UCLA Extension, Universidad Pompeu Fabra, ESCAC). He has, among other projects, shot the first 3D stereoscopic music video in Spain, as well as the first 3D short film and the first live 3D stereo broadcast of an opera.

Empieza el nuevo curso...

Parecía que nunca iba a llegar, pero ya esta aquí, el día 15 empieza los nuevos cursos anuales en afilm, estamos preparando todo, para que este nuevo año, vuelva a ser mágico.

A lo largo del curso iremos presentando a los profesores, colaboradores y todos los profesionales que pasen por afilm. Empezamos con Ivan Castineiras, profesor de Historia del Cine y la persona que inaugurara las clases de este curso.

Ivan Castineiras licenciado en Historia del Arte Contemporánea en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, a posteriori estudio Cine en el Conservatorio Nacional de Cine y Teatro en Portugal, así como en la Ecole nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière, en Paris. Especializado en Historia Cinematográfica.

Y para acabar, dejamos unas fotos del estreno de Arkadia, en el Festival de cine de Sitges.



It seemed the day would never arrive, yet here it is- on the 15th, the new year-long courses begin at afilm. We are preparing everything, so that this new year may be magical.

Throughout the course, we will be presenting all the professors, collaborators and professionals who pass through afilm. We will start with Ivan Castineiras, professor of Film History and the person who will be inaugurating classes this term.

Ivan Castineiras has a B.A. in Contemporary Art History from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Afterwards, he studied Cinema at the Conservatorio Nacional de Cine y Teatro in Portugal, as well as at the Ecole nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière in Paris.

afilm estará presente en el Festival de Sitges

Hoy estamos de celebración, afilm estará presente en Sitges 2010 el Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya.

El cortometraje “Love Lost” de Charbel Bou-Antoun, alumno del curso “Introducción al proceso cinematográfico” y el largometraje "The Peculiar Habits of the Natives" dirigido por los alumnos "Realiza un largometraje" estarán en la sección Brigadoon.
Varios miembros del equipo docente de afilm, incluyendo Yolanda Torres (Directora), Javier Ortega (Diseño de Sonido) y Juan A. Fernández (Director de Fotografía) estrenarán en el festival, su película "Arkadia".
Contamos los días, para poder disfrutar del festival y nuestras películas.

Today we have cause for celebration- afilm will be present at the Sitges 2010 International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.

Charbel Bou-Antoun, a student from the "Introduction to Filmmaking" program, will be screening his short film, "Love Lost", as will the feature film "The Peculiar Habits of the Natives", directed by students of the "Digital Feature Film" program, in the Brigadoon Section.

Several members of the afilm teaching staff, including Yolanda Torres, (Filmmaker), Javier Ortega (Sound Design) and Juan A. Fernandez (Director of Photograpahy) will be premiering their feature film "Arkadia" in the festival as well.

We are counting the days, until we can enjoy the festival and our films.

Intensivo de Interpretación en Ibiza!!!

Alguna vez os habéis imaginado, hacer un Intensivo de Interpretación en un lugar mágico? Ahora es posible, estamos preparando un taller de interpretación de 9 días en Ibiza.

Este curso pretende mostrar la realidad del trabajo del actor, de manera practica, definiendo funciones y estableciendo sistemas de trabajo útiles para el interprete.
Al finalizar el curso se entregara, una copia con la grabación de todo el material trabajado y una sesión fotográfica a modo de videobook.
El curso será dirigido por Javier Ortega, que ha impartido cursos monográficos y conferencias en la RESAD (Madrid), Universidad de Coimbra (Portugal), Universidad de filosofía y letras de Sevilla.

A falta de un mes para el comienzo de un nuevo curso, estamos ilusionados ante este nuevo reto, el resumen del año pasado, 6 cortometrajes, 1 largometraje, publicidad, practicas en el Liceo Barcelona, etc... pero somos insaciables y este año queremos mucho más.
Eso nos animado a entrar de lleno en las redes sociales, para que todo el mundo tenga un contacto mas próximo con nosotros, ver el día a día y animar a que forméis parte de nuestra familia, que es afilm.

Just a month to go before the new courses begin, we are very excited about this new challenge. To summarize the past year, 6 short films, 1 feature film, advertising, training at the Liceo Barcelona, etc.. but we are insatiable and this year we want more.
